I was directed to Midwest Industries website by a friend of mine who had found what he thought was the handguard of my dreams. After over 5 years, I had all but given up that I would ever be able to use a decent bipod or other accessories that required picatinny rails on my 308 when along came Midwest Industries. I found several gun smiths that would happily modify my rifle with a free float for right around 600 dollars - which was about half of what I paid for the weapon to begin with. Thus began a several years long search for just such a rail that wouldn't require me to pay some exorbitant amount for a free float.

I was told by the vendor that the hand guard could be easily replaced with any mid length hand guard. The only thing that disappointed me about the weapon was it came with a stock handguard and I was looking for a quad rail. I purchased the weapon at the Greensboro Gun Show and when I did, Bushmaster was considered a solid manufacturer of AR style rifles, in particular those in 308/7.62. I've owned a Bushmaster AR 308 for several years.
